What can I expect the police officer to do at the scene of my Florida car accident?

Transcript

This depends entirely on the police officer as well as the police department who responds. Each one is so vastly different, but generally speaking, the police officer will respond and collect information from all of the drivers, witnesses, and occupants of each vehicle. For example, the driver’s license, insurance information, registration of both vehicles, and put together a report or a Florida Crash Report, so that the attorney and the insurance adjusters can use that information later on. Oftentimes they’ll ask questions of both drivers. Where was the driver going to? Where was the driver coming from? What color was the light as they approached the intersection? Things along those lines. How did the accident actually happen? Sometimes they’ll ask about speed. Any type of question that was either leading up to the accident or how the accident actually occurred. Sometimes the officer won’t ask any questions at all. It just depends on the officer themselves as to how in-depth they do their own investigation.
