Can I control whether my car is repaired or replaced following a Florida car accident?

Transcript

Generally no. The way that the insurance company decides whether the car is either repaired or replaced is based on a simple mathematical formula as to what the value of the vehicle is. If the repairs outweigh the value of the vehicle, then the vehicle will be totaled, and the vehicle will be paid off. If, however, the vehicle can be repaired and it does not outweigh a certain percentage of the vehicle, then the car will be repaired, and the person can get it repaired at any repair shop of their choosing.
