If I am involved in Florida car accident do I have to tell my insurance company about it right away?

Transcript

Normally, yes. In most insurance policies, there is a clause that says that you have to report the accident to your own insurance company within a certain set period of time. That can be 24 hours or it can be a week or some other period of time. But yes, normally you have to report your auto accident to your own insurance company, especially if you want to access benefits that come from that. For example, the personal injury protection, or P.I.P, no fault coverage. The first 10,000 dollars of any accident injury claim is paid by the clients on P.I.P coverage. So to access that, you must report the accident to your own insurance company so that they can start the claim process and start paying bill like the Emergency Room or doctors bills as they start to accrue and you’re going to the doctor.
