What is the difference between detention and arrest in Florida?

We usually have this issue. For instance, when you’re a passenger in a vehicle that’s been stopped, you are free to leave unless a police officer has told you that you have to remain. That would be what’s called a detention. Once you are under arrest, a police officer has to switch the investigation to, now, advising you that you are now under arrest, and you are subject to legal counsel. That’s when your Miranda rights would be read to you, and you would officially be in police custody.
