Why should divorcing couples consider mediation in Florida?
Transcript
Mediation is actually mandatory in Florida. At some point in the divorce process, the judge will order the case into mediation. Mediation is a settlement conference where there is an independent mediator that is hired to help the parties resolve whatever issues remain. This could be child support, this could be time share or a parenting plan, this could be outstanding alimony, this could be unresolved equitable distribution of marital property. These issues need to be resolved before the divorce can be finalized by the judge. Mediation is a great tool to resolve these issues before they go to the judge for a trial.
