I never recommend that anyone should try to settle with an insurance company by themselves without the assistance of an attorney. Insurance companies know how to settle cases, it’s what they do everyday and they do it thousands of times everyday. Most of the time, this is an individual’s first accident and they don’t know all the tricks that an insurance company is going to try to pull on somebody. An experienced attorney who really concentrates in the area of personal injury understands how the insurance company is going to try to downgrade their case. They’re going to try to devalue their case. They’re going to try to settle the case for as little money as possible. This is a mistake, this is a mistake and they’re going to take advantage of someone who doesn’t have an attorney and doesn’t know the rules of the road and they’re going to settle for pennies on the dollar. I always tell folks, go and get the advice of an attorney.
