What should I do if the insurance company offers me a check right away?

Transcript

Sometimes, insurance companies will come out and meet accident meets soon after the accident. Occasionally, even a day or two after the accident, and offer them a check right away. You should always consult an attorney before accepting that. There’s a reason why the insurance industry wants to do that, and that’s to try to pay a claim as early as possible and as little as possible, and as quickly as possible. Oftentimes, an individual may be hurt and not even know it. They may not have gone to a doctor yet, and not even know that they’re hurt, and the insurance company is trying to give them a check to pay for injuries that they don’t even know that they have yet. They may be very seriously hurt and they haven’t even had a chance to find out what the extent of those injuries are or what the value of those injuries are. If an insurance company tries to offer an individual or a client a check, simply tell that adjuster that you want to go and consult with an attorney and do so as soon as possible.
